Partial assemblies remain useful

When components are missing, available geometry can still be viewed and downloaded with an incomplete-assembly warning. Dimensions, volume and mass describe loaded geometry only. A file with no usable geometry cannot be displayed.

When a result needs another check

Viewing can start without an account. Conversion, account storage and share creation require signing in. Temporary files expire after the displayed retention period. Read the privacy statement for server processing and deletion, and the accuracy notes before using numerical results. Do not assume that hiding a part, clipping it or exploding an assembly changes the exported source geometry.

Convert the generated 20 × 30 × 40 mm STEP block to STL. Compare the mesh bounding box with the source and record that the resulting 24,000 mm³ volume is an approximate closed-mesh calculation.

How can I convert a STEP or STP file to STL for 3D printing?

Open a supported STEP or STP model, check its dimensions and units, sign in and choose STL as the conversion target. Download the result and confirm scale in the receiving slicer. STL contains a triangle mesh and has no reliable unit declaration.

Is my STEP file uploaded to a server during STL conversion?

Yes. Selecting or dropping files uploads and processes them immediately in every tool. Files are processed temporarily on this server. The workspace displays the configured retention time. Delete in the file menu removes temporary workspace files; closing a view does not.

Does STEP to STL preserve editable CAD solids?

No. STL contains triangle geometry, not an editable CAD solid or native feature history. Curved geometry is approximated by a mesh; keep the original STEP file for CAD work.

How should I check units and dimensions after STEP to STL conversion?

Compare a known dimension with the original STEP model and confirm the unit assumption in your slicer. STL has no reliable unit declaration. Mesh properties are approximate; volume requires a closed, consistently oriented mesh.

Do I need an account to download a converted STL file?
